Things In Bostonia Are Picking Up!

Hey everyone, this week has been pretty great! Things in Bostonia are picking up which is awesome! Elder Wendel is on his last week before he goes home! I know so many missionaries that are going home in July it's crazy including 3 of my companions! Elder Nielsen and Elder Kiser go home with Elder Wendel and then next transfer Elder Fraughton goes home and all my companions will be home.

On Wednesday we had a really good day! We saw a lady named Pamela who is a really sweet lady. She just got baptized a couple months ago and is preparing to go to the temple to do baptisms! We also had another amazing lesson with the Bietlers. Sister Bietlers is a member and her husband isn't a member but is super prepared and wants to get baptized!

We had a pretty awesome day on Friday. I was on exchanges with Elder Binkley who is my Zone Leader and he actually just left Bostonia last transfer so he was excited to see some familiar faces and it was good to get to know him better.

On Sunday we had a fireside set up by the ward mission team for less active, recent converts and investigators. It went really well. Elder Wendel had the opportunity to bear his testimony at the fireside which was pretty cool!

Yesterday was pretty awesome. In the Santee Stake, on the last Monday of every month the missionaries have a lunch with the older people in the stake which was a lot of fun. We eat lunch then the missionaries sing some songs and we share a spiritual thought so it was pretty fun. We also did some service with some missionaries in my district which was fun.

Well like I said things are picking up in Bostonia. We added 4 new investigators this past week and we have been doing a lot of service which is awesome because sometimes it's nice just to take the tie off :P.

Hope you all are doing well. Miss ya

Time Flies When You're Having Fun!

From Tuesday, June 23, 2015 ...

This week was pretty good. We had our good days and bad days but all in all it was pretty good. I have lost 35 lbs now - 12 lbs since I have gotten to Bostonia! Walking areas aren't fun but it is sure helping me lose some weight haha. Especially since El Cajon gets pretty hot in the summer. It's the second hottest area in the mission. The hottest area is out in the Imperial Valley, it's actually the hottest area for a missionary to serve in the month of July! Thank goodness I'm not there! It gets so hot there that they have to studies in the middle of the day just to get out of heat when the sun comes out!

On Wednesday we had a really good day. We did a lot of service. It was in the 90s or low 100s that day so it was really good to just do service. That night though, we had a really good lesson with the Bietlers. Sister Beitler is less active and her husband is a nonmember and he has been reading and praying to know if the church is true. He loves coming to church. We taught him the word of wisdom this week and he was asking a lot of questions about what we could or couldn't do and he said the reason he was asking so many questions was because he wanted to make sure he wasn't going to do anything he wasn't supposed to which was really cool. He and his family are so awesome.

On Friday I went on exchanges with a missionary that goes home in July but it was a really good exchange. He isn't the most obedient missionary but he is super diligent and hard working. We did a lot of service that day too. We did some yard work and I got a huge blister on my hand haha. That's what I get for having city boy hands :P. We talked that night for awhile and got to bed late so I was super tired the next day.

Sunday was pretty good. It was hard to get investigators to church but it's all good we still had some there. We had dinner with some members that just moved into the ward and they are pretty stoked to do missionary work so we taught them the restoration so that they could teach their neighbor which is pretty cool.

Yesterday we had a pretty awesome day. We were able to teach 5 lessons which doesn't happen that often since we are walking but it was good! We were able to teach this member how to talk to someone about tithing because her friend wanted to know about tithing so that was pretty
cool. It's cool to see members getting excited to share the gospel here!

I hit my 11 month mark this week! I thought that was pretty crazy! I doesn't feel like I have been out for almost a year! Time flies when you're having fun! :)

Padres on P-Day!

From Tuesday, June 16, 2015 ...

Hey everyone! This week has been pretty sweet! We had the opportunity to go to the Padres game today! They played the A's and it was a lot of fun.

Had zone meeting this week and I gave training which was pretty cool. Things are going good here and Elder Wendel and I are getting along pretty well.

It was kinda a normal week and not too much going on. A lot of people cancelled appointments.

Sorry I don't have a lot of time today but the exciting news is that I have lost 30 lbs!

By the way, since I have an iPad now I can get emails everyday but I can only respond on Tuesday though.

Sorry not a lot going on this week.

iPads and Stuff

From Tuesday, June 9, 2015 ...

So we got iPads yesterday! It's pretty sweet!

This week in Bostonia went a lot better then last week. We saw a lot of cool miracles and we worked super hard. Sometimes being in a walking area can be frustrating because sometimes you don't have time to go to the parts of your area that are farther away. We have a lot of work close to where we live which is pretty cool.

Last Tuesday we had dinner with the 1st counselor in the bishopric and his family. They also had one of their nonmember friends over that we are teaching and we had a really good lesson with him. He is going through a lot of hard stuff in his life but he likes when we teach him.

On Wednesday I had DLC and afterwards our zone leaders went on exchanges with another companionship. After they exchanged they found out that neither of them were able to drive so Elder Wendel and I got a car for the day!  We had dinner with this part member family that we are teaching and we had a crazy good lesson with them! Don, who is the nonmember, told us that he has been reading the Book of Mormon every day and praying. He has a date for June 27 to be baptized which is awesome. He came to church for the first time on the 31st and he told us that afterwards he and his wife sat down and talked about church. They were talking about if this church was going to fit them and who they are or are they going to have to change a lot. They paused and said that it doesn't matter if the Church fits who they are because the Church is true so we should change to fit the Church. It was amazing! They have so much faith!

Thursday was such a good day. We were able to teach 5 lessons which is pretty rare for a walking area but it was so cool. We are truly blessed.

Saturday was an amazing day! I had the opportunity to go back to Sweetwater to see Em get baptized! It was probably the most spiritual baptism ever. Em has had 2 strokes and is usually in a wheel chair but she was able to walk into the font with some help. Elder Kiser baptized her. It was so amazing to see her be baptized because of her health problems. She can't remember things very well so her understanding of what she was taught wasn't very much but she had a desire to follow Jesus Christ and she understood the importance of being baptized!

Yesterday we had Zone conference and we talked a lot about the Book of Mormon and how we should be introducing it to investigators. I made a few comments during the conference about how this is something that Elder Kiser and I had been working on so he made me come up front and I taught my mission president about the Book of Mormon... It was pretty scary haha but it's all good. I guess I did a good job though because he told everyone after I taught him he was going to show a clip from the district but he ended up never showing the clip. So that was pretty crazy haha.

This week has been a lot better then last week. Things are getting better in my district and in my companionship. I gained a better testimony of charity this week as I worked on loving the people in my district. Our Heavenly Father always answers prayers!

Love you all!

1st Week In Bostonia

From Tuesday, June 2, 2015 ....

So I got transferred this past week to Bostonia and my new companion is Elder Wendel. It's in the Santee Stake in El Cajon. It's a walking area but it's all good. This area has a lot of potential and I'm pretty pumped. I'm still a District Leader and I have another companionship in my district. They both go home by August and sometimes it's kinda frustrating trying to get them motivated.

On Wednesday the first person we went and saw was a referal named Jasmine. We ended up havng a really good lesson with her and hopefully next time we go over we can add her whole family!

On Thursday we had some senior missionaries take us out to lunch which was pretty nice. the senior couple came to one of my district meetings in Sweetwater so it was nice to see them again. We also had a really good lesson with this part member couple. John who is a member walked up to us and asked if we knew where the closest church was because he wanted to start coming again. The funny thing is he lives right aound the corner from it! We were able to have a really good lesson with his wife who isn't a member and she was asking a lot of good questions.

On Friday we added a part member couple named the Bibbes! They just moved here from Mississippi. She is totally active and her nonmember husband has come every Sunday for the past 6 months! They came to church on Sunday and loved it!

Sunday was alright. The ward wasn't too welcoming but its all good. We had quite a few people come to church which was good! After Church we had a good lesson with a recent convert named Nevada. She is 17 and has been struggling recently with her testimony so we were able to help her out with that which was pretty cool!

Something pretty cool about being in Santee is that Elder Fraughton is another District Leader in the Zone so we get to see each other quite a bit! Elder Fraughton is actually training for his last two transfers which is pretty cool.

This transfer is going to be pretty crazy! Elder Nielsen, Kiser and Wendel all go home in July and Elder Fraughton is home in August which is pretty crazy!

Things are going great here in San Diego. In the past few months I have lost 26 lbs and since I'm in a walking area I'll probably be losing some more! Haha!

Love you and hope you are all doing well!
