Merry Christmas!

From 12/22/2015...

Hey everyone! Merry Christmas!!

This week was pretty good!

Last Tuesday we found out that Elder Anderson was being transferred. We also went up to Camp Wildwood (a camp that the church owns) to play sports. After p day we had dinner with some recent converts (a mom and her daughter) at a Mexican restaurant. We have to meet them at a restaurant because her husband isn't a big fan of missionaries but he lets them come to church and everything.

On Wednesday we went to transfer meeting and that's when I became companions with Elder Barnes! He has been out for 5 months and is from bountiful Utah. He is a pretty cool guy. After transfer meeting we met with a returning less active. This returning less active likes to play jokes on the new missionaries. So he knew I was getting a new companion so when we showed up he pretended to be a nonmember and be kinda mad at us to scare Elder Barnes. I wasn't supportive of the idea but he likes to do it and Elder Barnes was a good sport. We also had dinner with sister Worthen. Her husband was working late and she is in charge of the cub scouts so we met at the church but there was still no male there so we set up a table outside with some chairs. It was pretty cool though.

On Thursday we had weekly planning which takes forever. It took longer with Elder Anderson though because he talked ALOT haha. Usually weekly planning takes 2 1/2-3 hours, but with Elder Anderson it took like 4-4 1/2 hours on a good week haha. So that was nice having a shorter weekly planning session.

On Friday Elder Barnes and some other missionaries in the zone had to go to a meeting down in Mira Mesa so I was in a trio for like 4 hours with one of my zone leaders elder Matos and my district leader Elder Seavey. We did studies together and then Elder Matos told us that he promised to give a member in the Spanish branch a haircut before he went on his mission. So we show up at the Spanish members house and we knock and no one answers but we know the member is there so Elder Matos pulls his keys out of his pocket and unlocks the door and Elder Seavey and I are like what the heck and then Elder Matos told us that they do laundry here and sometimes they aren't home so they gave them a key.  After he unlocks the door we go inside and call for the member and no one answers so we go to his bedroom and his bed room door is locked as well. We were about to give up and wait for the member to come out but then I remembered that a member in San Diego 1st ward taught me how to unlock locked doors with a gift card or something. So I unlock the door with my library card and we find the member sleeping and then Elder Matos starts jumping on his bed haha. By the way the member is like 18 an is pretty close with the missionaries so he thought it was funny that we broke in.

Saturday was a long day. Saturday's are usually pretty long in Ramona because we aren't allowed to do service on Saturday because they want us out working and no one is home on Saturday and especially this Saturday because everyone was out of town or going out of town.

Yesterday we had a mission Christmas devotional. So the whole mission got together which never happens, it usually only happens on Christmas and there were missionaries that sang and stuff then we had breakfast as a mission and then we watched a slide show of pictures from all the baptisms that happened this year. So that was awesome!

I think that's it for this week! Pretty stoked for Christmas though! Tonight we are going caroling with the bishopric.

Love ya guys!
Elder Chris LaRochelle
